This past week in Adelaide at the national conference for Brain Injury Australia Limited has held some important developments both for myself presenting on Thursday and for awareness of the service ‘A New You – Training and Support’ continues developing in order to provide.
After reconnecting with an old friend Brant Cumming, he connected me to his associate, ABC Disability Journalist Bethany Cody who interviewed me on Wednesday and then donated his camera skills and intrinsic knowledge borne from decades of front line work.
I am very grateful for all the treasured connections maintained from my many evolutions in this life.
Nick Rushworth – EO of Brain Injury Australia, facilitated, along with the organisers of the stand out event Interpoint Events, a place for me and my associate, Simon Barnett of Etainment Productions to set up the cameras and lights enabling valuable interviews to be shot with the likes of world leading researchers such as Jennie Ponsford who, along with another researcher is leading study into sexual function post injury, Kate Gould – PBS+PLUS Positive Behaviour Support after Brain Injury and Eve Valera of Massachusetts General Hospital – leading important research in the effects of concussion in domestic violence situations.
There was ample opportunity to interview some providers of support and also survivors in attendance. All in all, it was a wonderful time, crammed full of interesting people doing important work.
The catering of the Adelaide Oval was divine and must be commended for providing such a stand out venue and service.
Whew!
The photo on this page shows the interview of Alex K from the Oncall Group of SACARE
And a mention of the improvement in service by airlines (this time Jetstar Airways) who, upon viewing my National Assistance Card, prioritised my passage and were helpful and civil (for the most part)
